High hats off to Cavatina for thier jazzy new venture!

Cavatina Singers` summer concert last Saturday afternoon, June 6th, at Albert Rd Methodist Church hit all the high notes and went with a real swing! The choir were joined by a fantastic young jazz trio from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama who accompanied them in a rocking performance of Bob Chilcott`s "A Little Jazz Mass". The trio then delighted the audience with their versions of "All the Things You Are" by Jerome Kern and "I Got It Bad" by Duke Ellington.

Cavatina Singers were thrilled to welcome back the fantastic baritone, Michael Lowe for their performance of "Captain Noah and His Floating Zoo" by Flanders and Horovitz. If ever there was a voice of command then Michael has it and his solos as the voice of God and Noah in the cantata ensured a rousing finale to a great concert.

After the concert, the audience were served a delicious complimentary cream tea with the members of the choir proving that not only can they sing but they can bake as well!

Special thanks must go to Margaret Ford and her team of ladies from Albert Road Methodist Church who did a great job in keeping everyone supplied with lashings of scones, cream and jam and cups of tea. The choir would also like to thank the following local sponsors who donated fantastic raffle prizes, The New Pilot, Queens Rd. Penarth, Holm House Hotel, Marine Parade, Penarth, Penarth Pier Pavillion and Mrs. Helen Turner.
